Rest In Peace, Precious MaKenna Walters

Today we watched a mother and father do something no parent should have to do. The strongest mother I have ever seen, Mrs. Walters, walked such a graceful walk of faith today. MaKenna's services were beautiful with the presences of the Holy Spirit all around.
North Platte is a stronger community because of this little girl. This precious child brought barriers down in our town that we didn't realize were there. Personally, MaKenna has made us feel like North Platte is "home", at least for now. A feeling we haven't had in a long time. There are no words that can be said for how MaKenna has helped us. MaKenna Walters will always have a special place in this town's heart.
Thanks to all who came out yesterday at Walmart to help support her cause. Together, you all raised $416! (The total for MaKenna's fundraiser) As for now, we don't know what we will be doing with the candles we made for MaKenna's Fundraiser. We want to honor her family and do what they wish. We will let you know at a later date. We know our Lord will lead us in the direction He wants.
I think the rest of the weekend will be a time of prayers, rest, and reflecting on our Loving Lord.
Thank you, Lord Jesus. Thank you for allowing us to be touched by this angel and allowing us a  glimpse into her life. When she gets back from her ride on the zebra this afternoon, please give her a hug from us.

Wicks / Flame Drowning in Wax!
Wick drowning out the flame in our Apple Pie Loaf Candle

Have you ever had a candle that drowned itself out in its own wax? We have had that happen more than once here. We wanted to show you some options you have on how to fix this.
First, know that sometimes this will happen no matter what. We have had this happen with commercial candles, soy only, and paraffin & soy blended candles.
Drowning wicks could have happened to your candle if you had trimmed the wick too short, if you have a really soft wax, or if there was a draft while burning. But don't despair! You can save that candle & your money!
Good candles don't cost pennies for a reason. The fragrance oil is expensive - so save your money by getting every last drop of scent from your candle.
Since our candles are scented throughout, not just "top poured" (like most commercial candles) this is a great way to save money and extend the life of your scent!  The last drop of scent at the bottom will smell the same as when you first lit it.
Extinguish the flames and pour that flooded melt pool into a tart warmer. Remember, keep your wick trimmed to 1/4" after you pour the melted wax into the warmer.
Or, you can absorb it with a paper towel.
Carefully Extinguish the flames and fold a paper towel. Absorb what you need to properly trim the wick,  1/4".
Hope this has helped save some candle wax and your money :)

Heaven Has a New Friend Today

A Moment of Silence for our Sweet Precious MaKenna Walters. The Lord called her home to live with him yesterday. No words seem to sound right at this time. I just wanted to share what MaKenna will always mean to us.

MaKenna taught me be brave even when I am the most scared and to live life to the fullest. No matter what I may be facing. We have been lucky enough to be allowed a glimpse into MaKenna's happy & brave spirit while she was sick in the hospital.

What a beautiful example of living life to the fullest. I pray I can have half as much grace and love in my lifetime as MaKenna had in hers.

Thank you MaKenna Walters for bringing our community closer together. You taught many lessons to many people by just being you.

Mr. & Mrs. Walters, Thank you for sharing your daughter's journey with the world. Thank you for allowing us to watch, grow & learn with your family. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3–4

Our banner came today!

Can you tell we were excited to receive our new banner today? Hopefully we will look a little more professional at the market. Now for that tablecloth... :)

We tried our hand at the Blueberry Loaf last night. They look good enough to eat! Now I want to make Blueberry Muffins ( the REAL ones! :))

Here are the Banana Nut & the Apple Slice loaf. My favorite is the Banana Nut!
We are planing to start our fall scents of testing. What are some scents that make you think of autumn?

Our first day at the Whistle Stop Market

What a sweet surprise we had found taped to our Candle Room door when we went to make candles! Our younger brother, Dennis made this door sign for us :)

Rebecca volunteered to make the signs for the market.

She is very patient with fine details. What a great job she did!

Gabe helped Sarah to bag the candles.

Arika helped to wrap the candles in tissue paper.

We put in a late night but we had lots of fun! Rebecca was upstairs making some Isaiah Casillas Candles while Sarah glues the ribbon to the MaKenna Walters Candles

We did really good for our first day at the Market. Now we know what to expect next Saturday.  :)Does anyone have any advice or tips for some Craft Fair Newbies?

Making the MaKenna Walters Candles

We were all pretty excited to see the "Big Brown Truck" pull into the drive today! A new shipment of wax and fragrance oil makes for a huge deal at our house. This order contained mostly sample fragrances that we plan on testing this coming month for fall :) AND.... more Sweet MaKenna fragrance for the benefit candles we are making for Makenna Walters.!/PrayersForMakennaWalters

Rebecca is wicking the Sweet MaKenna Pink Candles. Becca is such a trooper- helping to wick all these candles!

Weighing the wax -2 pounds exactly! Thanks Becca.

And here is the final product of the Sweet MaKenna Walters Candle! The scent is awesome and really reminds us of a sweet little girl eating cotton candy at a country fair! Well, at least that is what I think of :)

Tomorrow we will be making more Isaiah Casillas Eternity Candle! Have a great evening everyone!

Extended Vacation & Testing

I didn't realize how many days it has been since we last posted. I thought we should let you know just what we have been up to this summer :)

Fishing with Dad at the lake and a family reunion took up much of our "free time" in June.

Then we had a beautiful lightening show with our firework display for the 4th!

What great pictures Sarah took!

Wow! Another beautiful picture Sarah took just in time.

Back to work. We've put in a few good hours of testing. The entire house has been filled with the aroma of Coconut, Vanilla & Birthday Cake this past month :)

Our Birthday Cake Candle burned for over 55 hours!

Rebecca has been really good at keeping the times on our Cupcake warmers.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them!  More tart testing to come this weekend  :)
